Congratulations to Baroness Grender and Tom Brake MP on leading the way to ensure a full ban on letting agents fees for tenants.

With a higher than average percentage of rented housing in the ward at 26%, South Worle residents stand to gain more than most areas but letting agents and landlords are not so pleased. They have reacted with anger to the Government’s announcement that it will ban charging tenants agency fees.

The hated charges, levied on renters on top of deposits and rent, cost hundreds of pounds and are nominally levied for mundane administrative tasks such as printing out a tenancy agreement.

The Autumn Statement simply said: To be implemented “as soon as possible”. Watch this space.
