Thousands of GP patients in South Worle have a secure future after NHS England approved a merger of Worle Medical Centre with Cedars Surgery in the face of a national crisis in GP recruitment. What a success story for the residents of Worle to be cared for by a local family with the passion to continue to deliver really LOCAL services. “We’re thrilled to be able to provide continuity of care for the patients and look forward to working with staff at Worle health centre.”
– Dr Mike Pimm of Cedars Surgery
NHS England, which was clear it did not want to close Worle, was approached by Cedars Surgery, who put forward an application to take on the practice, to continue the delivery of patient care.
This is a good result, particularly as both surgeries are being run by local Weston people keeping employment in the local area.
“This is the best possible outcome for patients of the surgery. It secures a sustainable future for the practice and will continue the high-quality care patients receive, with minimal disruption.”
– Caroline Stead, Primary Care Contracts Manager from NHS England in the South West
